ȘI International Open Calls 2026

ȘI International Open Calls 2026

Hello!

You may already know ȘI Festival and have visited 2 Mai in the previous years. Or perhaps you are discovering us for the first time. Either way, we are glad you are here now.

After five editions in which we, together with artists, audiences, and the local community have built in 2 Mai one of the most vibrant cultural communities in rural Romania, the time has come to open a new chapter in the festival’s evolution.

This year we are launching the largest series of open calls in our history, dedicated primarily to emerging artists and, for the first time, conceived as a way of connecting with the international contemporary arts scene.

Between the 18th and the 25th of July 2026 theatre, film, music, dance, and visual arts come together in 2 Mai for eight days in an edition built around sustainability as a theme to be explored as a cultural, social, economic, and political phenomenon.

This year’s calls include the selection of performances and short films for the official theatre and film competition, as well as a multidisciplinary extension through which independent companies and individual artists from around the world can put their work forward and become part of the official programme of the festival’s sixth edition.

At the same time, we are launching four programmes dedicated to professional development and the strengthening of support networks within the cultural sector, all addressed to young creators from Romania: a Cultural Management Internship, a Cultural Journalism Internship, Cultural Project Pitching Sessions presented in front of institution directors, funders, and producers, as well as a Volunteer Programme.

Whether you created a performance, a film, a multimedia installation or any other artistic work you would like to bring to an audience, you have a cultural project in mind and are looking for the right context in which to develop it, or you simply wish to better understand how a festival works from the inside, here you will find opportunities to share your work, connect with the artistic community and find the resources needed to turn your ideas into reality.

Explore the calls below and choose the one that suits you best.

Application deadline: 20 May 2026

Before applying, please read the Participation Guidelines for the 6th edition, where you will find full details about eligibility requirements and the selection process.
